JENNI MCLAUGHLIN My work explores the textural possibilities of oil paint, charcoal, pastel, acrylic and a vast array of painting mediums.

Through this experimentation my work develops an aged quality with the canvas gradually becoming blemished by time, exploring the changeability of the human form and the ways in which time tarnishes both our physical body and our psychological existence.

I find inspiration in old stone walls, torn wallpaper and all things which have been weathered in some way. There are endless stories to be found in the imperfections of the human flesh and as time changes our perception of ourselves and others throughout a lifetime, it changes our physical appearance. The cracks and stains on the surface of these paintings hold memories of things long lost, and the knowledge gained from these memories.
