ASHLEE MAREE BYRNE "Using symbols from popular culture and western religion, my work explores ideas of celebrity worship, religion, consumer culture and excess in the 21st Century.

"Through the process of appropriating familiar imagery, I seek to re-contextualise the viewer’s past experience to create new meaning."

Ashlee experiments with the CMYK screen printing process and digital manipulation to create her series of artist proofs. Each work is an individual variation of the original image, layered differently to create a new meaning.

Ashlee Byrne recently completed three years of studies in printmaking at Adelaide College of the Arts.
